相信許多人對這首歌耳熟能詳，但是，對唱歌的這位歌手，叫得出姓名的人似乎不多。
如果要再列舉更多感到熟悉的歌曲，「Oh! Carol (1959)」、「Calendar Girl (1960)」、「Happy Birthday, Sweet Sixteen (1961)」、「Breaking Up Is Hard to Do (1962)」、「Laughter in the Rain (1975)」等或多或少均在英、美排行榜留下痕跡的單曲，在台灣曾經那麼樣地流行過，也曾出現不少翻唱版本，而這些都是誰唱的呢？

對於這個聲音，小時候我曾一度以為是女聲；直到見過唱片封面才確定我的認知是錯誤的，但也更令我對他的印象更加深刻，尤其他不只是個歌手，也為許多知名歌者及團體寫過歌(註)，或者自己沒唱紅的，都被其他人演唱而大放異彩。例如「Solitaire」原本寫給 Clay Aiken 演唱，最後終於被 The Carpenters 唱紅。
但這輕鬆可愛的「Happy Birthday Sweet Sixteen」，以及他與女兒 Dara 合唱的「Laughter in the Rain」版本，總令我喜愛到即使聽過後，腦子裡仍舊交替著回響～～～
