絕版經典～Topas／黃玉

Topas 德文的意思是黃玉，因此台灣直接翻譯為「黃玉合唱團」。但，是團體或個人，眾說紛紜。

有一說這支團體的團員大多是來自義大利與奧地利的樂手所組合而成，團長兼主唱者 Topas 也擔任吉他手，1980年他們出了一張空前絕後的專輯，專輯名稱以團長 Topas 命名。而由於這張專輯簡介中並沒有任何團員的介紹，而且在這之後他們就從歌壇消聲匿跡，於是有另一說，Topas 並非團名，而是僅由奧地利籍的 Topas 一人創作，找了幾位樂手包括 Michael Cretu (知名歌曲有「Moonlight Flower」)等人玩票製作而成的專輯。

儘管 Topas 並未真正大紅大紫，但這張只有8首歌卻各自有著不同曲風，支支動聽的專輯肯定是值得收藏的。

那時我才小學，金車麥根沙士以Topas的這首「Days Of Summer」作為廣告歌曲，大大地吸引了我；為了這首歌，我艱辛地打工幫水果攤阿桑賣玉蘭花，攢著存下來的以及零用錢，買了一張時值80元的廣告合輯卡帶(封面是整片藍色)，用著家裡那單卡的機器重複蹂躪著卡帶。每次聽著，總是閉上眼睛，想像自己舒適地徜徉，如同自由的小鳥兒遨遊天際。後來擁有專輯後整張聆聽，發現其他如「From coast to coast」、「Hello and goodbye」、「Train to an Island」與「Alasca」都是很棒的歌曲，在當時算得上是(前衛)搖滾的「Lemon Boy」，跟 Moody Blues 的交響搖滾相互呼應著，也曾帶給我不少聽歌的享受與樂趣。

形容作曲者心中那一塊夢土的「Alasca」，迷離中充滿期盼有如囈語的輕吟，也總讓人彷若置身虛無縹緲的空靈間，擁抱冥想的夢境。
