這首由 Prince 所寫的深情動人名曲，1985年交給自身旗下的 The Family 演唱，卻在1990年由來自愛爾蘭的光頭美女 Sinéad O'Connor 推上了美國Billboard年終100排行榜的第三名，而 Prince 自己才在1993年拿回來唱；另有多名歌手翻唱。
在台灣，則有順子唱過。
一向擅於描繪女人細膩心境的知名西班牙導演 Pedro Almodóvar 在「Hable con Ella」(電影：悄悄告訴她，亦名「Talk To Her」，2002)雙CD原聲帶中的第二張「Almodóvar：Viva La Tristeza」(阿莫多瓦之私房專輯：悲傷萬歲) ，收錄了這首由老牌爵士男歌手 Jimmy Scott 演繹出另一種截然不同風味的 Nothing Compares 2 U，據大師導演自己聲稱：『這些歌是我在寫「悄悄告訴她」劇本時所聽的歌，…他們就像是「悄悄告訴她」原聲帶的另一張私房專輯』…
