這一首1956年由 Wanda Jackson 首唱的「Silver Threads And Golden Needles」是非常有趣的情歌 (沒有人規定情歌一定要慢慢唱吧)，也非常切合當時美國社會重男輕女、王宮貴族公子哥兒玩世不恭遊戲人間的現象，擁有心愛的女人之後便不聞不問，只是給她穿金戴銀、打扮入時以掙得上流社會一席之地，平日可能又周旋在尋找新獵物的行列中；然而，那究竟是為了愛，還是為了男人自己的虛榮呢？
當男人天真地認為自身的名利與財富等表相物質帶給心愛的女人多大的恩賜時，等待臨幸終未果的女人又作何感想？一次一次守候，一次一次希望落空，那一句「金針與銀線也縫補不了我的心」，將那不斷被冷落了愛的女人心比喻得多麼精準！
Linda Ronstadt 亦曾將之翻唱得更有節奏，以強化對感情失望、心碎到絕情、不屑的心境；其他翻唱者如 Janis Joplin、Dolly Parton、Crystal Gayle、The Brothers Four 等各有風味，但 Skeeter Davis 流露出的唸唸有情，以退為進的女人心，彷彿一幕電影片段在腦海播映，難以不使人激賞。
